Our DLRE
Faith Development is all we do. Unitarian Universalism is all we teach. And the congregation is the curriculum.
These are the words that sum up the philosophy of religious education for our Director of Lifespan Religious Education, Chris Jarman. Hired May 2018, Chris works with volunteers and community members to create learning opportunities for friends and members of all ages, including our Sunday morning programming for children and youth, our lifespan comprehensive sexuality education program (Our Whole Lives – OWL), and classes and workshops for adults. She also supports our family programming and social events to help connect families with each other and members and friends at BBUUC.
Chris became an Unitarian Universalist in 2002 and has been a member of BBUUC for 18 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education K-8, Special Education K-12. As a Director for the YMCA First Coast, Chris worked in youth development, creating and co-implementing the STEAM Before and After school program. She holds certifications in Darkness to Light Child Abuse Prevention, Safe Crisis Management CCSD, Spirit Play Certification, is a trained Youth Ministry Adviser and Trainer, and an Odyssey of the Mind Coach.
Chris has three instructions for you: Empower yourself with knowledge, read The Journey church newsletter, it’s the best way to stay informed! Connect with other members and friends by participating in our offered programming and activities. Find Inspiration through our community to deepen your spiritual development.
The goal of Lifespan Religious Education is to Empower, Connect, and Inspire.
