Intent vs. Impact: Resolutions for a New Year

Rev. David A. Miller presents

“Intent vs. Impact: Resolutions for a New Year”

With Caitlin Regan as Worship Leader

Dr. Gary Smart, Accompanist

The Melodears, Special Music

About our service:

Many of our actions in life are motivated by intentions. As January begins, it is a common practice to set intentions for the year ahead by making New Year’s resolutions. But our intentions don’t always result in the outcome we hope for or desire. Do we, should we, attend to the difference between our intentions and the impact our behavior actually has? Rev. Miller’s sermon will be presented on screen in the sanctuary.

About our guest speaker:

Rev. David A. Miller is the senior minister at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax Virginia. He is the congregation’s lead minister and is responsible for the programs and staff related to worship, social justice, and stewardship. David was raised Jewish in the Skokie/Evanston area just north of Chicago. He has a B.S. degree in political science from the University of Utah and received his Master of Divinity degree from the Claremont School of Theology in 2008 with an emphasis in social transformation.

About our artists performing special music:

Linda Crawford, Eileen Morrison, and Ellen Miceli comprise the Melodears. MelodearsLinda has been singing, solo and in groups, since she was a little girl. She is delighted to have found two lovely and talented musicians to perform with.

Eileen has been singing and playing the piano since she was in third grade. It is so comforting and inspiring for her to find others who share her love of music. Her most recent career is real estate.

Ellen accompanies the group. She started playing piano at age 8.  She feels fortunate to have found a way to feed her spirit as an accompanist and enjoys being part of this trio.
