Volunteer
What is the essence of life? To serve others and to do good.
– Aristotle (384-322 BC)
Our congregation represents a commitment by many individuals to work in partnership for the greater good. There are lots of ways to serve and give back to the BBUUC community!
Sunday mornings and special events
We need helpers to:
Greet at the front door Sundays, once every 2 months
Help in the kitchen for Sunday’s coffee hour occasionally
Bring in food occasionally for events or ceremonies
Help set up or clean up occasionally after programs or events
Participate in a campus clean-up
Committees, Ministries and Teams
The full benefits of our faith community become more possible when we engage in the ministries of the church. This is an opportunity to match your gifts, skills and interests with the needs of our community.
Our Committees, Ministries and Teams include:
ICARE Ministry – We engage in direct action for justice in Jacksonville through an interfaith coalition of 38 religious congregations.
Rainbow Welcoming Congregation Ministry – We support our LGBTQIA+ members by providing support groups and social action opportunities.
Worship Committee – We create dynamic worship experiences in our Sunday services through teamwork and collaboration.
Social Action Committee – We research, educate, facilitate, and participate in our community regarding social issues. Social Action’s Green Team: We educate and initiate programs to help BBUUC be involved in community environmental advocacy and action at the local, state, and national levels.
Caring Committee – We nurture our members through life’s joys and sorrows.
Stewardship Committee – We organize the annual Silent Auction and other fundraising events through planning and the soliciting of donations.
PR & Communications Committee – We publish a monthly newsletter and make sure our congregation knows about our programs and activities through social media, newspapers, and direct communication with members.
Hospitality Committee – We arrange and prepare food and drink items after Sunday worship services and special events.
Facilities Committee – We care for our campus, including the building, landscaping, technical work with audiovisual and computer equipment.
Lifespan Religious Education Committee – Children’s Religious Education: We provide age appropriate spiritual growth for our kids and youth. Adult Religious Education: We provide book groups, small group ministries, and spiritual growth for adults.
