Nehemiah Assembly

Monday March 27, 6:30-8:30 PM

The ICARE Nehemiah Action Assembly is the very public event where the Mayor, Sheriff, School Superintendent and other persons with power over public resources are asked to make commitments in relation to issues identified in House Meetings in the 38 ICARE Congregations. The 2017 Assembly will be held on March 27, 6:30- 8:30 PM, at Abyssinia Baptist Church, 10325 Interstate Center Drive, Jacksonville, 32218. The information page downloadable at ICARE-and-Nehemiah-Assembly-basic-information.pdf and includes driving directions. However, you can also park your car at BBUUC and take the bus which will leave at 5:30 PM and return between 9:00 and 9:15.

Babysitting will be available at the church from 5:15 to 9:15 for children seven and under. Children over seven (and some seven year olds) will get enough out of the assembly to attend with their parents.

The page linked above includes information about the yearly ICARE cycle and some of the recent accomplishments. Issues currently being pursued are defined more completely in the downloadable page at ICARE-Issue-Updates-as-of-Feb-7-2017.pdf.

If you are reading the Journey you are likely to be invited to the Assembly by one of the BBUUC ICARE Justice Ministry Network members. You can also sign up for the bus, for babysitting, or simply to let us know you are going, by emailing ICARE@bbuuc.org or by signing up in the back of the church.

“ICARE” is the Interfaith Coalition for Action, Reconciliation and Empowerment, a coalition of 38 religious congregations in Jacksonville including Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Unitarian Universalist congregations. The issues addressed by ICARE often spill over into the surrounding communities in our metropolitan area. This is particularly true at this time for the Restorative Justice for Youth issue and the Re-Entry issue.
