Going Places – Transportation Options for Duval & Clay Counties

Going Places

One of the most life-changing challenges people may face is not being able to drive.  While there are friends in our circles who can graciously give occasional rides, it can be difficult to depend on the kindness of others.  Here are some services that can keep you on the go.

Duval County Transportation Services

  • Uber and Lyft provide door to door transportation at costs depending on time of day and destination. Download the desired app onto your smart phone and follow instructions.  You can use a credit card or most kinds of cash transfer apps like Venmo or Paypal.  The cost may seem a bit high, but when the maintenance and use of a car is no longer in the budget, it can be considered a bargain.
  • Jacksonvill Transportation Authority (JTA) offers inexpensive transportation. All persons over 65 years old can use the bus service free of charge.  To get your STAR card, bring your official ID to one of the centers listed HERE
  • JTA Connexion supplies ADA para-transit transportation to the disabled for a small fee
  • JTA Connexion + offers rides to specific addresses – much like taxi services. It can be used for almost anything!
  • ADA Paratransit Services (you must apply and be approved) To see if you are eligible, go HERE

Clay County Transportation Services

Clay Community Transportation (CCT) offers affordable and flexible transportation.  There are several stops for the CCT shuttle.  You can also apply for transport to medical appointments, or to Clay Senior Services for a small fee by calling 904-284-5977

Medicare

Check your Medicare plan.  Many cover the cost of transportation to medical appointments.
