Rev. Anderson urges us to change our view of love from a special connection with “one special person” to any moment “where we are given the gift of being pulled out of our isolation into a connection with someone else.” She recounts her time at First Unitarian in Rochester, New York, and learning from the interpreters hired to accommodate their growing deaf ministry to arrive at her conclusions about changing how we all think about love.

Rev. Kaaren Solveig Anderson (pronounced CAR-in) serves at the interim minister for First Parish Brewster UU. She recently served as the Interim Minister of the UU Fellowship in Vero Beach, FL. Rev. Kaaren received her Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary/Columbia University. She is also an artist and a published author of meditations and essays. About our Member-Musician:
“Firepit” Mike Ludwick taught himself to play guitar as a teenager, cutting his teeth on the Beatles and Bob Dylan. During the 2011 Occupy Movement, when Robert E. Lee Park (now Emancipation Park) in Charlottesville, Virginia, was being occupied by citizens, he played around a firepit until the park was cleared by police, leaving him with his nickname.
Music has been a life-affirming spiritual practice for him, dedicated to bending the arc of the moral universe toward justice, love, and peace.
