Social Action July 2021

It was chance that I went to our Journey Circle meeting and was talking to Pam Richards when she told me about the Zenele Muholi exhibit at the Cummer Museum.  She suggested we arrange a tour with Helen Meatte who is a docent there.

Eight of us attended and I wish everyone could had seen the exhibit. It was a great opportunity for expansion of the soul and the mind. There were several themes that ran through the exhibit but having a discussion at the museum brought out our compassion for marginalized communities. I know that I left understanding how a determined person can make a difference in their community and ultimately the world.

I am so proud to be a part of our BBUUC community because I feel like we are doing our part to change the world around us.  What about next month?  What will we do to make an impact on our community? Who will we help? Will we make our lives, our families’ lives, better? It’s one life at a time.  What will we do for the environment?

My conversation with Pam has filled me with the hope that this church can guide me in what kind of activities it wants to do for Social Action for the month of July. I know we can celebrate our Independence and Civic Pride.  What kinds of things do you want to do? I welcome your ideas. Email me at social_action@bbuuc.org or call me at 904-874-1249
