The discipline and practice of living in right relationships are essential to healthy Unitarian Universalist congregations. They also go beyond that circle of connections in our church family, into all aspects of our lives where relationships are involved. It’s about committing to care for one another with honesty and integrity. Some even see it as a spiritual call. Our service will introduce our healthy congregation team members, the concept of Right Relations, its importance in our community, and how we can approach it not only as a promise but as a practice.
About our Speakers:
The BBUUC Healthy Congregation Team is made up of six members who have been charged by the Board to promote the emotional health of the congregation through education and training in the following areas: healthy conflict and conflict resolution, listening skills, covenants and right relationships, healthy (nonviolent) communication skills, and restorative justice. The team leader is Linda Mowers, along with Manny Andrade, Helen Meatte, Ellen Miceli, David Rulison and Madeline Sims.
About our Guest Musician:
Boja Kragulj’s first name translates to mean “color.” She lives up to that title as her clarinet playing was recently called by the NY Times “…full of soul, sparkle, and a world of vivid sound-painting…”. As a performer, she is sought after for intelligent and sensitive interpretation of both the classical canon and contemporary repertoire. She regularly appears in recital and gives masterclasses across the US and Europe. This year, Boja appears in rotation with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Met Opera Orchestra, the educational outreach branch of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, as well as the St. Louis Symphony. Among many symphony and ensemble appearances, she is the founder and clarinetist of The Bold City Contemporary Ensemble (www.boldcity.org) here in Jacksonville. Boja holds a doctorate in clarinet performance and has a post-master’s certificate in music theory pedagogy, a second Master’s degree in music technology and production earned as one of Berklee’s prestigious Grove Scholars. She is also a recipient of the coveted Fulbright Grant and currently serves the US Government as a Fulbright Ambassador of the Arts.
