July 7: Gary and Marilyn Smart will present: “A Celebration of UU Hymns”

Music has the power to move us, to comfort, heal, enthuse, inspire, even hypnotize. This strange power has proven controversial through the ages. Music was at times banned in the church, yet at other times it has been at the center of worship. This Sunday Gary and Marilyn Smart will lead us in an exploration of the UU hymnbook, including a bit of historical background and a lot of group singing. Why has ritual singing always been an essential part of human activity since antiquity? The answer lies in the experience.
