Spirit Seekers: (3rd -5th Grades) Intro to “Six Sources Of Inspiration”

Facilitator: Chris Jarman

Today’s URUU session explores Inspiration as a concept and introduces us to the inspirations of the world’s religions, as well as the 6 Sources of UU inspiration, which will be covered in more detail in the coming weeks.

URUU WEEKLY CHALLENGE:

  • Practice deep-calm-breathing a few times each day. The morning and before bed are good times to practice, or if you find yourself waiting in line somewhere. Just a few deep, slow 3-3-3 breaths are all it takes to slow your heart and fill your body with healthy, life-giving oxygen. Share your deep-breathing with your family and friends!
  • The 7 Principles “promise keeper” challenge will stand all year long.

Spirit Play (3.5 yrs – Kg) Ten Good Rules for Living

Storyteller: Amanda Seng

Door Keeper: Mary Hamilton

This lesson tells us the story of Moses and the Israelites wandering in the desert after escaping from Egypt and the important lessons they learned about loving God and loving each other.

 Wondering Questions:

  • I wonder if you have ever seen or heard any of this before?
  • I wonder which part of this story is the most important?
  • I wonder which part you like the best?
  • I wonder where you might be in this story?
  • I wonder if there is a part of the story that we could leave out and still have a story?
  • I wonder …if any of you have been to the desert?
  • I wonder …how it feels to be free, to be able to worship and live as you wish?
  • I wonder …how it feels to be able to go wherever you want to but not know where to go?
  • I wonder …if it is hard to be free?
  • I wonder …how Moses felt when he went up the mountain?
  • I wonder …what Moses and God talked about?
  • I wonder …what the ten rules might be?
  • I wonder …if it is hard sometimes to love God?
  • I wonder …if it is hard sometimes to love people?
  • I wonder if this lesson reminds you of any of our other Unitarian Universalist Promises?
