Coca-Cola famously contains a secret ingredient known as Merchandise 7X. The only copy of the formula is locked in a safe in Atlanta, Georgia. In this sermon, Elizabeth DeCoux describes a different secret ingredient: one which has the power to transform the relationship between humans and animals.

About our Speaker

Elizabeth DeCoux spent her career practicing law and then teaching law. A member of the BBUUC Worship Team, she serves as both Worship Leader and Speaker. She is also a member of our Pastoral Care Team as BBUUC’s Certified Animal Chaplain, available to help members and their companion animals with any spiritual and pastoral needs related to animals. Elizabeth was the recipient of the 2019 UU Animal Ministry’s Albert Schweitzer Sermon Award for the best sermon regarding our responsibilities to animals. She proudly serves on the Board of Trustees of the Unitarian Universalist Animal Ministry (UUAM).

About Our Guest Musician

Angela Muller is Professor of Flute at Florida State College of Jacksonville, a Pettry Piccolo Artist, and owner of Muller Flute Studio (est. 2012). She performs with the St. Augustine Orchestra and founded/directs the First Coast Flute Choir. An active soloist and collaborator, she has performed in Austria, Germany, and France and with ensembles including the Florida Flute Association, First Coast Wind Symphony, Jacksonville Chamber Music Society, and numerous regional orchestras and opera companies. A dedicated educator, Ms. Muller is a frequent clinician, judge, and conductor for FFA, NFA, and FBA. She holds a B.M.E. from the University of Northern Colorado and an M.M. from the University of Denver.
