About Our Guest Speaker:
Billy Thomas is currently the Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences at FSCJ. In his second year of Doctoral work at the University of South Florida, in the Ed.D. program in Educational Innovation, he is wrestling with a dissertation, Faculty Wellbeing: A Field Guide for Mitigating Burnout, Developing Sustainable Innovative Professional Development using Meditation and Mindfulness. Billy is still the director of Amelia Island Karma Kagyu Study Group a Buddhist Meditation and Study group in Fernandina. He’s the very proud father of Teddy and Amelia both doing well in the 7th grade. Billy rides his motorcycle almost every day, loves the beach and kayaks every chance he gets.
About Our Guest Musician:
Soprano Hannah Joy Gauthier is a second year Masters student at the University of North Florida, studying with Dr. James Hall. She hails from Traverse City, Michigan, the cherry capital of the world. Hannah Joy has been singing since she was ten years old, and, she tells us, “I haven’t stopped for a moment since!” She also enjoys teaching with the Bach to Rock Music School of Jacksonville Beach.
