Fear is the reason we are here. It is a tool for survival, but it can also get in the way of living into our values and meeting the moment. Join Rev. Carrie as she explores how we might honor our humanity, listen to our body, and live in alignment with our values.

About our Guest Speaker

Rev. Carrie Holley-Hurt (she/her/hers) serves as Assistant Minister at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin and as sabbatical minister for the Texas Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry. She holds a BA in Integrative Studies from George Mason University, an MSc in Public Policy from the University of Bristol, and an MDiv from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. In 2024, she received Preliminary Fellowship from the Ministerial Fellowship Committee and was ordained by First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin and Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church. Though not raised UU, Carrie “got here as soon as she could.” Since becoming a Unitarian Universalist, she has facilitated religious education, organized UU the Vote efforts, and served as an activist and chaplain during Texas legislative sessions. Before entering ministry, she worked as a policy analyst for the Texas Legislature. She brings that experience—and her commitment to creating a more just and loving world—to her ministry.
