Easter for Unitarian Universalists, a Family Worship Service

BBUUC’s Worship Team presents
“Easter for Unitarian Universalists, a Family Worship Service”
Gary Smart, Accompanist

Unitarian Universalists hold a variety of religious and spiritual beliefs. Most of our members do not hold a literal interpretation of scripture; instead, they believe it is a human book written by human hands, which attempts to express the relationship between humanity and what we call divine. Some Unitarian Universalists consider themselves to be Unitarian Universalist Christians, many of whom agree that learning from the example of Jesus and studying scripture for its wisdom is at the heart of a more “progressive” Christianity. As UU’s, we can still view Easter as a time to celebrate the arrival of spring, the rebirth of nature, and the triumph of love and hope, often approached metaphorically rather than literally. Our family service this Easter will include all ages, will focus on the Easter story from various perspectives, and will be followed by our traditional Easter Egg Hunt for the children and a Potluck Luncheon after the service. Children should bring their Easter baskets. Easter bonnets or chapeaus are optional but encouraged for all.
