BBUUC’s Annual Christmas Eve Service
A collaboration of our congregation and Worship Leaders, led by David Dean
Christmas Eve at BBUUC has always been one of the highlights of our year together. Of course it’s heartbreaking that we cannot be side by side in the sanctuary this year. But we on the Worship Team want to create a virtual service, incorporating many of the traditional elements we’ve come to love, and hopefully create some new memories to warm our spirits on this holy night (and beyond).
We’re inviting everyone in the congregation to record a short video that will be compiled into the full Christmas Eve service. Its content can be anything about the holiday(s) that means something to you, that you want to share with our beloved community. Perhaps it’s a song, a poem, a quote. Or something more personal – a memory, a childhood story, the reason for a particular ornament. It can be individual, or with a partner, or a whole family – however many of you can fit into the frame. You can be indoors or outdoors. And we can even help you shoot it if tech is overwhelming to you. We especially want to reach out to anyone who may have always wanted to participate in our yearly services but may not have been comfortable in front of everyone. Here is a chance to share your joy and warmth and love with our friends, whose presence we all dearly miss.
There is a brief instructional video by David Dean on our YouTube channel for recording your video contributions for Christmas Eve. If you wish to participate in the recorded service, please contact Worship@bbuuc.org, and we will send you the information for uploading your segment or provide you with technical assistance as needed.
During this time of social distancing, when in-person worship has been suspended, BBUUC will continue our weekly worship in video format that you can find on YouTube each Sunday morning at the “BBUUC Video” channel. Simply subscribe to the channel on YouTube, and watch our weekly worship services, modified for video viewing until we can resume gathering together for worship in our church sanctuary. The worship videos will remain on the site for viewing at your convenience. New services are posted at 6 A.M. on Sunday mornings.
We invite you to submit your Joys and Concerns via email to email@example.com by Tuesday at noon of each week for inclusion in the upcoming Sunday’s worship service. Please note “J&C” in the subject line. For your privacy, we will share our Joys and Concerns using first names and last initials only.
