Results of Article II Survey

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the recent survey concerning the UUA changes to Article II of its bylaws, which will come up for a vote at this year’s General Assembly. On October 8th BBUUC held an informative congregational meeting to discuss the proposed changes to Article II. As a follow-up to that meeting and before we move forward with any additional information session(s), the Board wanted to get some additional feedback from the congregation. We felt that a survey of the congregation would be the best way to accomplish that. The results of the survey are as follows:

Number of surveys sent out: 147

Number of responses received: 45    31%

Do you have an opinion about the revisions to Article II? The breakdown of responses to this question are as follows:

  • Yes 27     60%
  • No 18      40%

Summary of written responses: Of the 27 people who answered yes about having an opinion about the revisions, we received 26 written elaborations. The opinions on the revision were as follows:

  • Yes to the proposed changes: 15         58%
  • No to the proposed changes: 9            35%
  • Neutral to the proposed changes: 2     7%

Would you be interested in participating in a listening circle? The breakdown of responses to this question are as follows:

  • Yes 10           22%
  • No 17            38%
  • Maybe 18     40%

Based on the results of the survey, the Board has decided to offer at least one listening circle to allow those that feel it is important to get a better understanding of the need for a change and the process for making the change. The listening circle will be scheduled for some time in February (final date and time to be determined).

Thank you for your feedback.
