President’s Message – January 2024

As we move into the second half of our church year, we have a lot to look forward to and much to be thankful for. Some of the major things to look forward to in the next six months are the annual stewardship/pledge campaign, our Annual Meeting in May, selection of delegates for the UUA General Assembly and, of course, the General Assembly in June. I am hopeful that everyone will take an interest in these events and plan to participate where you can.

The major things above are exciting, but what really makes all this work are the little things we may not always think about. Things like:

  • serving on committees or the Board
  • working with our young people (and adults) in the Lifespan Religious Education program
  • volunteering for hospitality duties or for a church clean-up day
  • being a greeter on Sunday morning

If you have any questions or interest in participating at any level, reach out to me or the office and we will get you the information you need.

I want to leave you with a final New Year’s thought – Unitarian Universalism has been growing over the last decade (membership is up 15% overall) and becoming stronger every year. I think the primary reason for that is that we follow the UU Golden Rule – “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence, of which we are a part.” This is the driving force behind our effort to have A Year of Stewardship – A Way of Life.

I hope everyone had a good holiday season. I look forward to seeing and working you in the New Year.

Peace and Love.

Chuck
