President Message April 2023

As I write this, we are still in the middle of our 2023 Stewardship Campaign. It got off to a slow start, but I am encouraged by and thankful for the support the Congregation is demonstrating. If you haven’t had a chance to respond to the Pledge Drive or the Gifts of Service, I want to encourage you to take a moment and thoughtfully consider your support.

As we are finishing up the Stewardship Campaign, we are looking forward to a couple of other significant events to round out this fiscal year. In April and May we will be taking into consideration the Church’s position on the proposed changes to the UUA Article II of the Bylaws leading up to the UUA General Assembly vote on the matter. In preparation for these discussion, I would suggest that you take the time to review the Article II Study Report (https://www.uua.org/files/2023-02/article-II-study-report-2021-23.pdf) to give you an comprehensive overview of the proposed changes. I am sure you won’t be surprised to know that there are opposing views to these changes, which you may want to familiarize yourself in order to have a fully informed perspective. We tentatively have a Congregation-wide meeting scheduled for May 6 from 11:00 to 1:00 to discuss this and to give our GA Delegates an informed direction to follow at the GA meeting in June.

On May 21 we will hold our BBUUC Annual Meeting. The agenda will include matters to vote on, such as: Board Officers and Trustees for 2023-2024; the 2023-2024 Budget; changes to our Bylaws; and, possible one or two other matters. The agenda and materials will be sent out to all members as soon as they are finalized. In the meantime, if you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.

As always, I want to thank our volunteers and staff for the conscientious, hard work they do on behalf of BBUUC. I also want to thank the Congregation for your attendance at services and your warm support and greetings to our guests and visitors. All this helps us to be the Beloved and Welcoming Community we strive to achieve.

Blessings to you all.

Chuck
