12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Come listen to Jane Higgins, a volunteer with the Ixia chapter of the Fl Native Plant Society, give a presentation by Dr. Doug Tallamy titled, Why What You Plant in Your Landscape is Important. Dr. Tallamy is a renowned entomologist at the University of Delaware. In this presentation, we will learn about the science that shows how wildlife is completely dependent on native plants for their survival.
For more information about Dr. Tallamy, please visit his website at HNP – Homegrown National Park – Regenerate Biodiversity.
The Ixia chapter has many other resources and presentations available on their website. Click here to view them.
The mission of Ixia and FNPS is:
We envision a future where people have greater knowledge of — and appreciation for — Florida’s natural environment and where diverse native plants, communities, and ecosystems thrive.
If you love Florida, this is an important presentation to hear! And in case you’re wondering as I did, Ixia is the name of a beautiful native iris, Bartram’s Ixia found only in northeast Florida. See the included photo.
Hope to see you there!
