This week at BBUUC….
December 2: Mark Yount will present “Liberty, Liberation and Liberal Religion”
Amidst vocal religious fundamentalists, Unitarian Universalists proudly carry the banner of liberal religion in our communities, our nation and our world. But what does that mean – and to what do those “liberal” values commit us? Tea party patriots seek to restore the “liberty” pivotal to 18th century liberalism, while those marginalized politically or economically have demanded “liberation.” How do we strike a balance by which we accept one another’s diverse views on social issues while joining as one voice our UU call for peace, liberty and justice for all?
