This week at BBUUC….

April 6: Linda Crawford presents “Does Religious Faith Suppress Curiosity?”

If we ascribe to a particular religious faith, does it mean that we stop asking questions about ourselves and the universe? Is atheist and evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins right when he describes religious faith as “a process of active non-thinking”? Linda will examine the question of faith and curiosity in terms of modern-day Christianity and Unitarian Universalism.

What’s happening at Church this week?

The BBUUC Rummage Sale will take place on April 12th.  Those wishing to donate items for sale may begin to do so this Sunday, April 6th.  You may also bring items in on Tuesday, April 8th from 6pm-9pm, Wednesday, April 9th from 7-9pm and Friday, April 11th from 12-3pm.  Please see April’s Journey for a list of items we cannot accept.  We greatly appreciate all of your donations!

•    12:00pm Immigrant Detention Conversation – Middle School Room – A follow-up to last week’s service, we will discuss ways in which we, as individuals and as a community, can take action to improve the situation of those who have been detained.  This meeting will be rescheduled at a later date.

•    7:00pm “Behind the Kitchen Door” Discussion Group – Sanctuary
•    7:00pm Parents Group – Middle School Room – All parents are invited to attend to talk about the joys and challenges of parenting.

•    12:00pm Rummage Sale Set Up – Sanctuary

•    8:00am-2:00pm Rummage Sale!  Volunteer, Shop, Invite your Friends and Neighbors!

Sunday, April 13th
•    8:30am Pancake Breakfast to benefit the Teen Enrichment Travel Fund
•    9:45am Coffee Conversations – High School Room
•    10:30am (During the Service) OWL for 1st and 2nd Graders – High School Room
•    12:00pm Caring Committee Meeting – Middle School Room
• 12:00pm Earth Day Preparations – Sanctuary – Help fill environmentally friendly bird feeder packets which will be a part of our Earth Day table at the Jacksonville Landing on 04/19/2014.
