About our Speaker
Manny Andrade is a lover and explorer of spirituality. He is a life-professed Franciscan. He completed seminary studies in 2000. In 2003 he received ordination in an independent catholic, (small c) church. Manny recently retired from his career as a social worker serving communities living with HIV since 1989. He married Rusty Turner in 2016. Manny is an Honoree of 2023’s Jacksonville Rainbow Awards for Service to the LGBT and HIV Communities. He also currently serves as a member of the Jacksonville Mayor’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Board.
About our Sermon Author
The Rev. Anna Tulou (she/they) became full-time Assistant Minister at First UU Church of Richmond in July 2024. A Richmond native and VCUarts alum (’01), she built a career in theatre, administration, communications, and HR before moving with her family to the mountains in 2013. After leading worship for three summers at the UU Church of Roanoke, she completed her M.Div. at Meadville Lombard in May 2024 while serving as Ministerial Intern in Blacksburg. She entered preliminary fellowship with the UUA and was ordained on June 1, 2024. Rev. Anna is an avid writer and poet who loves to sing, hike, cook, and play, bringing passions for music, theatre, permaculture, theology, and justice work to her ministry.
About Our Guest Musicians
Paula Prince is a graduate of the jazz studies program at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In Cincinnati, she played saxophone and/or flute in various large and small bands. After relocating to Florida, she performed with various ensembles, including the First Coast Wind Symphony, the TBA Big Band, Swing and a Miss, and the North Florida Saxophone Quartet.
Bill Prince, a professor emeritus at the University of North Florida, has performed with numerous bands and orchestras, including Buddy Rich, the NORAD Band, and the American Wind Symphony Orchestra. He has performed on over 70 albums and can be heard on Buddy Rich’s, Mercy, Mercy, and The Best of Buddy Rich. In recent years, Bill developed a cabaret show that he performed on cruise ships worldwide. One of his unique talents is the ability to perform professionally on several instruments. Bill produced his CD, Happy Thoughts, on which he composed, arranged, and performed all parts. He also published a book on his musical life titled Music Is My Ticket, available on Amazon.
