We often navigate a crowded world trapped in self-absorbed bubbles, assuming the worst when inconvenienced by others. Through the lens of a tense encounter on St. Augustine’s busy St. George Street, this sermon explores how quickly anger can turn to something else entirely when we fail to see the humanity around us. Join us to explore how to move beyond entitlement and truly see one another.

About Our Speaker

Donna Zimmerman is a native Floridian whose family moved here when she was 14. After going back to school “later in life,” she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNF. Donna lived in Dallas for a time and found her spiritual home at First UU Church of Dallas. She built a meaningful career that spanned both social services and Human Resources. Notably, as Executive Director at Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida, she launched the region’s first professional HIV/AIDS service program that is still in operation. Now retired, Donna channels her heart for service into our own community, serving on the Worship Committee and as a lay Chaplain on the Pastoral Care Team. She and her partner of 28 years, Cyndi Daman, love spending time with their big, beautiful family of two daughters, six grandkids, and two great-grands!

About our Guest Musician

Bill Cain is originally from the Philadelphia area where he studied at Temple University and was fortunate to study under Alan Able of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Bill has performed with many Symphony Orchestras in the Philadelphia/New York/Baltimore area as well as with TBA Big Band, the Straight Ahead Big Band, Doc Severinsen, Ray Charles, Roger Daltry, Amy Lee and Evanescence, Luciano Pavarotti and many others. He has played for BBUUC several times as a member of Swing and a Miss, as well as solo vibraphone.
