Rev. Tracie Barrett
“Now Is the Accepted Time”
Claudia Marshall, Worship Leader
Dr. Gary Smart, Accompanist
Grace Scarborough, Guest Musician, Piano
The Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v Wade came down while Unitarian Universalists were gathered in person and virtually at our General Assembly. Rev. Tracie acknowledges our feelings, as well as what our next steps are to work for reproductive justice for all.
About our Guest Speaker:
Rev. Tracie Barrett lives in Winter Springs, Florida, and considers herself to be a UU Evangelist, sharing the good news about our liberal faith. She serves as the halftime consulting minister at University Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Orlando, FL. Rev. Tracie creates workshop experiences for congregations and individuals. She is also pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at United Theological School with a focus on revitalizing congregations. Rev. Tracie delivered terrific sermons to BBUUC virtually when our sanctuary was closed during Covid, and will be delivering her sermon to us this month on the screen in our sanctuary.
Grace Scarborough has been studying and performing piano since she was 5 years old. Music has become a passion and lifelong friend for Grace. She is currently a piano pedagogy major at the University of North Florida, studying with Dr. Gary Smart. Grace has made several musical accomplishments during her time at UNF such as winning the Avalonia Inspirational Film award, winning first place in the Piano Playoff Fall 2019, and winning first place in the Music Technology Composition contest 2021. She also teaches her own students in her music studio “Amazing Grace Studio”. In April 2020, she married her best friend Ryan Scarborough, and together they are using their gifts to bring glory to God.
