For quite a few years, BBUUC has registered for two cars and 10-15 walkers in the Annual MLK Holiday Grand Parade. This year, because of COVID-19, we limited our entry to walkers with Madeline Sims coordinating. The parade route this year will stay in the downtown area and will be shorter than in the past (route below). As of January 10, there are 130 groups entered in the parade making for staggered times to arrive at the staging area. Instructions for our time of arrival will be issued this week.
Jacksonville’s Interfaith Coalition for Action, Reconciliation and Empowerment (ICARE) of which BBUUC is a part works in the tradition of Dr. King. This means that we’re injustices are identified, all available persons and powers are mobilized to move policy makers toward more just solutions. The focus is on the changes that are needed for greater justice, who can make that change, and how to influence that person or entity to move forward.
